Hello Barehoofers! When the student is ready the teacher appears, for the students that are ready i am here to help. Last year I while reading some of the boards on the internet that there is a tremendous need for educated horse OWNERS. So much twaddle going by as "fact". Trimmers not taking the time to read the hoof or the horses or to educate the owner. I realized that i could help many more horses by teaching the horse owners the truth of hoofcare than i could by trimming their horses myself so i have switched my focusfrom trimming and therapuetic hooves to teaching and doing seminars here at our ranch. For years I didnt focus on seminars because I wasnt CERTAIN that what it took me years of study to learn could be transmitted in a few days. The problem was solved when i realized that if I do the initial evaluation and trim or assist the student to trim their own horses then i could indeed send them off with enough knowledge to maintain that correct form. This put me on a new path. My mission now is empowering and educating owners whether it is to trim their own horses or just to never be fooled by some "expert" telling them to do incredibly harmful things to their horses hooves. I am tired of seeing horses lamed with square toes for "better breakover" or misshapen things that look like upside down mushrooms and having that be called a "natural trim". Scymetery and science.
